Support S.22 For Tule Lake Internment Camp

Please call or write to your member of Congress to ask for his/her support for S.22 which contains modest funding for a Special Resources Study for Tule Lake Internment Camp, which is now part of the new National Monument, World War II Valor in the Pacific.  While Illinois is not on the list, you should still pledge your support as well as express thanks.

School Board To Consider English-only Commencement Speeches

The Terrebonne Parish school board in Louisiana is considering a proposal requiring commencement speeches to be in English only after two co-valedictorians from Ellender High School thanked their parents by incorporating and translating a few brief words of gratitude in Vietnamese.

JACL Troubled By Racist Cubs Apparel

The JACL is deeply disturbed by the derogatory "Fukudome t-shirts" that are being sold outside of Wrigley Field.  The shirts depict a slanty-eyed bear cub that says "Horry Kow" in mock Asian font, and Kosuke Fukudome's name and number are displayed on the back.

Epidemic of hate symbols must not be taken lightly, says JACL


The Japanese American Citizens League (JACL) is deeply disturbed by the number of noose-hanging incidents and hate symbols that have surfaced across the country in recent weeks, and is concerned that these shocking displays of hate will lead to violent behavior.

JACL denounces Ann Coulter for anti-Semitic comments

The Japanese American Citizens League is disappointed and outraged at Ann Coulter’s anti-Semitic remarks in an Oct. 8 appearance on CNBC’s “The Big Idea” with Donny Deutsch, in which she claims that Christians “want Jews to be perfected, as they say. […] That’s just what Christianity is.”
